K-12 Tutoring – It’s more than just Homework Help

At Prep By Prep we understand that, at any grade level, achieving one’s academic potential requires more than just “homework help.” We make sure that each student receives the proper mentorship that will address their underlying potential, mastery of fundamental skills, organization, and a sturdy grasp of the academic material.

Prep By Prep Tutoring & Consulting offers tutoring session year round, whether it’s English, Math, or Science. Our team will help you achieve your goals at the pace you desire.  Our tutoring sessions are one-on-one because we believe that each student deserves the individual attention for the most effective learning.

Elementary School (K-5)

In elementary school, students must move from learning essential skills (i.e. fundamental literacy and math skills) to more complex mathematical problem-solving and written expression. A positive elementary school experience is important because it helps determine a student’s attitude toward learning later in life. After working with a Prep By Prep tutor, our students enter middle school as strong readers, proficient writers, competent mathematicians, and enthusiastic learners.

Middle School (6-8)

In middle school, students must cultivate organizational and time-management habits as they move through a departmentalized learning environment for the first time. Moreover, unlike elementary school, the middle school curriculum is defined by test-taking, elaborate written work, and note-taking. Success hinges on their development of such skills and habits, which they may depend on for the rest of their academic career. Our tutors help students develop and strengthen such skills by teaching essential study and organizational methods while also addressing the growing complexity of schoolwork.

High School (9-12)

In high school, even students with strong core learning abilities can hit a wall when presented with extremely sophisticated subject matter. One evening of homework may include prep for an AP European History exam, a battery of Calculus problems, and a review of advanced Economics. For many of our students, one or more of these subjects is at the Honors or Advanced Placement (AP) level. Our high school tutors are seasoned experts in these courses and the relevant ‘big-picture’ skills needed to succeed in high school. Our tutors help students stay motivated by contextualizing schoolwork in light of life-long goals, especially college admissions.
